Terms & Conditions

Goal

The goal of Dionysus is teaching members more about wine and viticulture, but also to create a social community for the members. Dionysus does so by organizing tastings, trips and other events.


Definitions

Wherever 'the association Dionysus' is mentioned it will be written as 'Dionysus' for brevity.


1: Membership

1.1: Every student in Leeuwarden can become a member of Dionysus.

1.2: A member must be 18 years or older.

1.3: Members must be enrolled in one of the studies available at NHL Stenden to hold a position in the Board of Dionysus.

1.4: The membership application has a two-week trial period once the registration form is signed. After this period, the membership is final.

1.5: The membership is personal and cannot be represented by anyone else, this includes the use of the membership card, if a member is caught sharing their membership card with non-members, this will warrant a strike, which will count to the total number of strikes mentioned in section 3.3.

1.6: The membership is indefinite until further notice.


2: Duration of the membership

2.1: A membership may start at any time and is valid for the specified duration on the registration form. 

2.2: The membership year runs from the first (1st) of September until the 31st of August.

2.3: The membership is valid for the period stated in section 2.1 and will be automatically extended for the same duration at the end of this period, unless Dionysus is informed otherwise two (2) weeks before the end of the duration. 

2.4: Membership ends in the cases provided in the Articles of Termination in section 3.


3: Termination of membership

3.1: Termination of membership by the member must be done in the form of written notice to the secretary, this must be done before the first (1st) of August.

3.2: If Dionysus is not notified of the termination on time, membership continues for the duration mentioned in section 2.1. Exceptions can be declared by the Board, or if the member cannot reasonably be expected to continue the membership.

3.3: The Board may terminate a member in the case of misconduct or breaking rules from this document after three (3) strikes, after which, the terminated member must hand over their membership card, which will be destroyed.

3.4: The Board holds the power to terminate members even after one (1) case of misconduct if the infraction is heavy enough to warrant immediate termination. This may only be done if the Board holds an unanimous vote.

3.5: If a member is terminated by the means of section 3.3 or 3.4, the person will be barred re-entrance in Dionysus.

3.6: The remainder of the paid membership fee for the current period remains due and will not be refunded.


4: Membership fee

4.1: Members are required to pay a membership fee. The amount of the fee is determined by the Board, with the approval of the members at the General Members Meeting.

4.1.1: Membership fee of the academic year of 2022/2023 is €130 for a full year, €67,50 for one semester, €35 for one module (ten weeks).

4.2: The general authorization gives the treasurer the right to automatically collect dues, including membership fees. This will usually be done at the beginning of the academic year on a date to be determined by the Board. In consultation with the treasurer, it is possible to pay in multiple terms.

4.3: In case of violation of this requirement, the member cannot participate in any event or meeting held by Dionysus. In case of payment in terms, denial of participation will be effective only after non-payment of the first (1st) installment.

4.4: The membership fee can only be paid for by direct debit, unless otherwise determined in consultation with the Board.


5: Members

5.1: All members are entitled to participate in all activities and to make use of the facilities offered by Dionysus, unless they are denied, according to the rules mentioned in section 4.3.

5.2: Members are expected to behave appropriately when they go out in conjunction with; or on behalf of

Dionysus at NHL Stenden or any sponsor; "Wijnwinkel Wielinga", "Spinoza et. al.", "Sterk natuurwijnen", "Milano Mensware" and "Café Scooters", as well as any future sponsors. This is for both physical locations, as well as online presence. In case of non-compliance, the Board can impose a strike, this will count to the total strikes mentioned in section 3.3.


6: Activities

7.1: Each activity needs to be registered for. This can be done solely via the Google Forms sent out via e-mail before a deadline specified by the Board. Only by registering via the Forms, a member has the right to participate in an activity.

2. In case of more than one no-show to an activity, the board has the right to call the member to order, which might lead to consequences when signing up for further activities.

3. When a member has registered for an activity, the member must show up at the appointed time (this

will be announced in due time via e-mail) to prevent exclusion from the activity.


7: Former Members

6.1: Members can stay associated with Dionysus by paying a yearly fee of €25, by doing so, they will become former members.

6.2: Former members receive discounts on events and a €2,50 discount on tastings, unless specified otherwise.

6.3: Former members gain an advantage when signing up for the annual wine trip hosted by Dionysus over non-members.

6.4: Throughout the academic year 2022/2023, more benefits for former members will be announced.


8: Liability

8.1: Dionysus is not responsible for the consequences of alcohol use by its members.
